The inaugural John Moriarty Festival takes place in the philosopher’s home place this weekend. One of his greatest champions, comedian Tommy Tiernan will be among the event’s speakers. Jerry spoke to Mary McGillicuddy and Dr Conor Farnan who are involved with the John Moriarty Festival.

The Other Croke Park: Frongoch Internment Camp, the GAA and Kerry’s Revolutionaries – June 21st, 2024
The connection between Kerry and the historic Irish Republican internment camp in Wales should be kept going, after a plaque was unveiled there this week.
The call came from Noel O’Sullivan, who is originally from Killarney and is on the Provincial Council of the GAA in Britain.
Jerry spoke to Noel and to Jim Finucane whose last function as Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council was to attend the unveiling. -

“This is Not Justice”: Woman Assaulted By Soldier Condemns Suspended Sentence – June 21st, 2024
Yesterday, at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Tom O’Donnell, imposed a three-year prison sentence, which he suspended in its entirety, on a 22-year-old soldier and ordered him to pay €3,000 compensation to the young woman he attacked without prejudice to any potential civil court proceedings. Cathal Crotty of Parkroe Heights, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare attacked Natasha O’Brien. The unprovoked assault left the young woman with a broken nose, concussion, and bruising. Jerry spoke to John Galvin who’s secretary of the Kerry Law Society and to Pa Daly, Sinn Féin’s justice spokesperson.

John Egan: Ireland Needs a Manager Now – June 20th, 2024
Jerry spoke to John Egan, the Republic of Ireland soccer player, about the national team, the Euros, and his own difficult season with Sheffield United because of injury. His father, also named John, was one of the greats of Kerry football, a member of the Golden Years team.
