‘Mam walked straight into the bomb’ – How the Dublin-Monaghan bombings changed my life forever
It was May 17, 1974, when Wendy Burke’s life changed forever. She was just one year old when her mother Colette, who was due to give birth in two days, was killed in the Dublin-Monaghan bombings, as they walked up Talbot Street on the way back from the maternity hospital. With the 50-year anniversary coming up, Wendy and other survivors are still looking for justice and answers to the bombings, which left 34 people dead and hundreds injured.

€5m student accommodation overspend: The UL housing scandal at centre of garda probe
The University of Limerick (UL) is engulfed in a scandal arising from a €5m overspend on student housing 3km from the college campus. UL wrote to gardaí last month to notify authorities of a possible fraud. The matter is currently the subject of ongoing assessment by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau to see if a criminal investigation is warranted.
