Episode 67: Jumping in the deep end with Jenni Anderson

Episode 67: Jumping in the deep end with Jenni Anderson

“Just do it. stop overthinking it.“

After a winter hibernation we return with an episode about jumping in at the deep end.

We chat to Jenni Anderson, the former Director at Invictus Games, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Haven House and future consultant to the sector about taking the plunge during a pandemic. We talk about the motivation of a big birthday, unfulfilled dreams of musical theatre and starring in the next season of The Crown.

We also talk tech and the transformation of charities this past year, fighting your inner chimp and how to properly ask for help. There’s also high-brow entertainment choices; how fundraising, comms and brand need to work in unison; and slowing down to focus long term.

    Spotlight Episode 8: Keith Williams

    Spotlight Episode 8: Keith Williams

“I'm more excited than ever about the sector”

We spoke with Keith Williams about how he's spent his career trying to make an impact through tech - most recently at Fundraisin and JustGiving. We discussed how we've embraced digital in the past few months and how it might continue to transform the sector.

There's a call for a donation revolution, consumer behaviour, connectivity and the rise of virtual activity to drive fundraising. Keith attempts to define what is real, Kenneth misses the train and everyone out of work gets a job.

Episode 66: FareShare and Home-Start Give a Little Love - it's part two of the Christmas Special!

“The love bit of ‘give a little love’ is so important“

It’s part two of our Christmas Special.

You can tell because Kenneth has his Christmas Jumper on. Following our conversation with John Lewis, we spoke with Lindsay and Peter - the CEOs of FareShare and Home-Start - for their side of the story. They tell us about their year, keeping the partnership a secret and how they were a little feistier than expected.

We hear about the magic of food, building strong partnerships and not selling yourself cheaply. We get to grips with Sharepoint, rely upon adrenaline and find out how an organisation can triple its offering overnight. There’s a mutual love-in with the team at John Lewis and hope for next year.

(Last week we recorded Part One with Peter Cross from John Lewis and Waitrose.)

    Spotlight Episode 7: Rebecca Broad

“My family said we need to stop - but do we?”

We spoke to Rebecca, the brains behind Pamperaid. The family-run project to reward NHS staff at her local hospital in Sidcup with boxes of treats which caught the imagination and ended up supplying them nationwide instead.

She tells us how she roped in the family, turned her street into a bubble bath and why her Dad’s office now smells of lavender. We talk about how the initiative has boosted her confidence, her dreams to work with Gordon Ramsey and how the whole thing was Epic.

Episode 65: The John Lewis Christmas advert with Peter Cross - it's the Christmas Special!

“One of my passions is people - the potential of people“

We have a very special Christmas Special for you.

Delivered in two parts, our first is with Peter Cross, the Director of Customer Experience at John Lewis and Waitrose - the man behind the John Lewis Christmas advert and the pitch-perfect ‘Give a Little Love’ campaign. Peter tells us all about the importance of the High Street to a community, the passion he has for a brilliant service in store and how they managed to craft the advert over video conferencing this year. He talks creativity, being inspired by kindness, collaboration and how charities should appreciate their own value in any partnership. We also have gardening, kitting out The Nightingale, securing your own TV show and the greatest mystery shopping encounter you can wish for when launching a campaign.

(Next week we’ll release our conversation with the CEO’s of FareShare and Home-Start about their experiences working with the John Lewis Partnership on this campaign.)
