At The Wood Seth Van Havere

- Arts
Bartenders talking to bartenders and industry friends about drinks, service, and everything else you talk about when you're sitting at the wood.
-
Cocktail Inspiration
Seth, Dustin, and Kelly talk about the inspiration behind their favourite cocktail creations.
-
Really Old Bartenders.
Dustin, Jackson, and Seth have a combined age of 125, and a combined bar career of 63 years. We sit around after work and talk about how the old days were so much better, how liquor and late night breakfast food make people fight, and how these young bartenders are always on our lawns.
-
The Face and The Fingers
Seth, Kelly, Trevor, and a bit of Bria, talk about Covid, Kelly’s experience trying to find a job in Toronto, and racism in the bar industry. This episode is a little long, but we got carried away. That’s what happens when you’re (takes off sunglasses) at the wood.
-
Terminal Viscosity
Creativity. I’ve noticed that career bar staff are usually creative types, with side projects like playing music, painting, writing, etc. What is it about this industry that attracts creative people? I sit down with Trevor Thomas and Steven Kievit and talk about why we need to express ourselves.
Listeners: you can even play a drinking game where you drink whenever we say “creativity” or “creative”. You’ll get messed.
Fun fact: In addition to being a Sound Engineer, Trevor is also an Editor’s Nightmare!
It’s the longest episode yet, and we tend to trail off, but it’s a lot of fun. I dare you to finish the episode! -
Sober Bartending
They say never trust a skinny chef, but what about a sober bartender? Corey Laurin joins Seth to talk about how to cocktail while sober, and we taste 3 Seedlip non-alcoholic “spirits”.
-
Episode the Second.
Matt and Eric talk about the process of taking over a bar and making it their own, we taste 3 Alberta gins, and Matt LOSES HIS MIND over parking meters.
