Marketing is changing. The pandemic, civil unrest, and Gen Z doing overly-sexual dances on TikTok has forced us all to adapt and learn new skills. But I’m absolutely exhausted by the phrase “uncertain times” and "now more than ever".

This podcast is 40% marketing education, 20% commentary on the marketing profession, and 30% a cry for help. We'll try to keep it light-hearted.

Let’s be frank. We’re marketing in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. We’re like the raiders from Mad Max, but we’re huffing espresso instead of paint and wielding MarTech instead of flamethrowing guitars mounted on Humvee

Episode 1 - Myth of Monolithic Marketing

Episode 1 - Myth of Monolithic Marketing

Today’s episode is particularly near and dear to me. We will be talking about the myth of the marketing monolith. Monolithic Marketing is a false assumption that all marketing, and marketers, are the same. Marketers know that this is a false perspective. But I’ve continually encountered leadership, managers, and entrepreneurs who view “marketers” and “marketing”, both in giant obnoxious air-quotes, as a singular monolithic practice. The myth is not only annoying, it is dangerous.

Episode 0 - Why is this a Marketing Hellscape?

Episode 0 - Why is this a Marketing Hellscape?

Marketing is changing. The pandemic, civil unrest, and Gen Z doing overly-sexual dances on TikTok has forced all us marketers to adapt and learn new skills.

There's a lot of sugar-coating happening when talking about the industry status quo. There won't be a return to normalcy. We are marketing in a post-apocalyptic hellscape and marketers are like the raiders from Mad Max, except we're huffing espresso instead of that silver paint stuff.

Hence, why I launched this podcast. Let's talk real marketing and save the saccharine for the boomers.
