Across The Great Divide: Boomtowns And Ghost Towns

Growth and change are two constants in the American West. At least they have been for the past two centuries. Ever since White settlers and the U.S. government grabbed this land from Indigenous tribes. And today, as our region undergoes yet another transformation, some are digging in their heels. Others see opportunity.

Living west of mountain west but still consider it home

Glad to see insightful coverage about a region that’s all too often overlooked or stereotyped.

Meh

As a Midwesterner who moved to the Mountain West 15 years ago I was excited to listen to Nate’s story. However this is just another public radio angled story, which has become increasingly difficult to listen to the last few years. There is no medium ground anymore just clearly skewed to the left. And instead of letting the episodes speak for themselves they did a fact check final episode that comes off as pompous and righteous. The economy one got me - if you talk to 10 economists you’ll get 10 different answers but this only “fact checks” one. There are many sides to each story, but public radio is so biased now we only get one side. It’s laughable that he felt unwelcome by a waitress and pointed it out. Has this not happened to you in a big city or any where you travel to ? Maybe your mood was off that day and it was not her. What a whiner. People are allowed to have different points of view and have discussions about them. You interview and then wait to drag everyone after in your narrative when they don’t have a chance to respond. The worst.
