An Absolute Must Listen
While most of the information discussed inthis short run podcast is geared at podcasters trying to save themselves future heartbreak, the techniques discussed are applicable to pretty much any data storage and sharing.
This is best experienced as a listen and do-along with the short digital magazine published on their website that can walk you through the basics of setting yourself up for success. Additionally, they've got a template for setting up your own RSS feed via GitHub if you don't want to go with a podcast distribution service or are looking to migrate your podcast to your own server after spinning it down.
There's valuable informationa about, as you might imagine, how to preserve your podcast, but it's not limited to how to save things so they don't disappear. There's some guidelines for how to work with the files, file structure, backup strategies, metadata, etc.
If you work with files on a computer at all, you probably have a horror story of something you've lost as a result of an accident, hardware or software failure, etc. This podcast gives you some of the tools you'll need to avoid disasters in the future and make it easier to revisit your work later.

Not just for podcasters!
These five episodes go a long way to help podcasters organize and ultimately preserve their files, but let me just say, as someone who does not have a podcast, that the organizational plans discussed on Preserve This Podcast are useful to anyone who has a desktop full of folders, Word docs, PDFs, etc. And even if meta data is something you're generally not dealing with daily, isn't it nice to finally understand them?
