知足章第四十六
天下有道，卻走馬以糞；天下無道，戎馬生於郊。禍莫大於不知足；咎莫大於欲得。故知足之足，常足矣。　

第 四 十 六 章
天 下 有 道 ， 却 走 马 以 粪 。
天 下 无 道 ， 戎 马 生 于 郊 。
　 　祸 莫 大 于 不 知 足 ﹔ 咎 莫 大 于 欲 得 。

Dì sìshíliù zhāng
tiānxià yǒu dào, què zǒumǎ yǐ fèn. Tiānxià wú dào, róngmǎ shēng yú jiāo. Huò mòdà yú bùzhī zú﹔ jiù mòdà yú yù dé.

46. Horses
When a nation follows the Way,
Horses bear manure through its fields;
When a nation ignores the Way,
Horses bear soldiers through its streets.

There is no greater mistake than following desire;
There is no greater disaster than forgetting contentment;
There is no greater sickness than seeking attainment;
But one who is content to satisfy his needs
Finds that contentment endures.

天下有道的时候，最好的战马却用来种地。天下无道的时候，怀驹的母马也要上战 场。
最大的祸害就是不知足，最大的罪过就是贪婪。所以，以知足为满足的人，其满足是永恒的。
