This week, Scott and Aaron celebrate Juneteenth – and a local historical event, Regulator Remembrance Day, coincidentally also June 19. Also: birthdays for the inventor of the crossword puzzle, the inventor of the chocolate chip cookie, a famed and acclaimed sci-fi writer, and a star track athlete who overcame polio to become the fastest woman in the world.

This week, Scott and Aaron celebrate Ben Franklin’s kite experiment, several big Supreme Court rulings, and the invention of the ballpoint pen. Also, Scott looks ahead at Regulator Remembrance Day, next Wednesday, June 19, at 6 p.m. in Hillsborough to mark the anniversary of the execution of six “Regulators” who resisted British colonial rule in the years just prior to the American Revolution.

This week, Scott and Aaron mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day – though what the “D” actually stands for is still a bit of a mystery. Also: the Bill of Rights is proposed, the 19th Amendment is ratified, Homer Plessy challenges racial segregation, and – one of Scott’s favorite stories – the shopping cart is invented at an Oklahoma grocery store.
