    She enjoys encouraging others to move their bodies in healthy ways, but more importantly, to love their bodies for what they DO and not what they look like.

    As someone who has recovered from an eating disorder, Katja knows just how difficult it can be for us to love our bodies and ourselves, and her main focus is to help others foster the love and acceptance for their inner selves and physical bodies that she has found over time.

    We converse about using the building of physical strength to build mental strength, and transitioning from strict regimens to lifestyle wellness, including breaking free from diet culture, and cleansing our social media feeds.

    We even go into gaining weight and relationships. I talk to Katja about her relationship in regards to training, and ways to work with our partners regarding body positivity and struggles you may be going through.

    I hope this episode empowers you to move for the love of activity, have conversations that will support your health mentally and physically, and feel incredible as you are, diet not included.

    Colleen Daly is the founder of Guerrera, a feminist fight club dedicated to helping women and femmes feel more confident, safe, and powerful in their bodies. She is a 10th planet purple belt and a Defensive Options black belt. Colleen trains and competes in boxing, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu. She is the ONNIT open champion and Finishers Open champion at the expert level. Colleen has been a fitness professional for over ten years, taking a body-positive, functionally focused approach to training. She is a published author in the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology on research she conducted with the Northwestern University Body and Media Lab on how fitness instructors influence the body image of their participants. She is the subject of the documentary All the Rage currently on the film festival circuit.

    On Part 1 of Reveal Episode 2, I interview Colleen Daly (@colleen10p), the creator of a womens/femmes fight club (@guerrerafightclub), a 10th Planet Purple Belt, and a Defensive Options black belt. She is a boxing, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu competitor, a fitness coach, and a body positivity advocate.
    We reveal Colleen’s initial journey on her way to becoming expert competitor, her fight club, and converse about mindset. Colleen speaks on training, protecting yourself, and gives us three pieces of advice that we can utilize in our lives regarding self-defense. We talk about how to take up space as a woman and combat the fact that as women we have been socialized to be small and apologize.
    If you would like more from Colleen, she is a published author in the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology on research she conducted with the Northwestern University Body and Media Lab on how fitness instructors influence the body image of their participants.
