star* scheme: Empowering Youth Through Rugby

We were really excited to welcome Christian Lang, Managing Director of star* scheme, as our special guest on the latest episode of Janno Signal.
At star* scheme, their mission is clear: through the sport of rugby, to make a material difference in the lives of young people who have Adverse Childhood & community Experiences (ACEs), poverty or mental health issues.
Our introduction to star* scheme and their amazing work came through our partnership with Broughton Park RFC, where we proudly sponsor their Under 10’s team.
What becomes clear as soon as you start looking into their work, is the impact they’re making. Whether it's providing essential kit, arranging transportation, facilitating introductions to rugby clubs, or connecting young people and their families with exceptional coaches and team members, their work is both powerful and humbling.
Janno Media Founder, Matt Wallace, talks with Christian about the scheme, its success and ambitions for the future.

Riding into the Spotlight with Harvey

Riding into the Spotlight with Harvey

With a knack for documenting his motorbike escapades and genuine encounters with the great British public, Harvey Rides Bikes has carved a real niche in the digital landscape. With each video, his infectious personality and humorous commentary draws viewers in, and you can’t help but smile.
After discovering Harvey’s Instagram last year, our Founder, Matt became an instant fan and recommended Harvey for our weekly bulletin, ContentED.
We let Harvey know we were featuring him and wasted no time in extending an invitation for a chat. Armed with two boxes of Haribo (that will make sense later), Matt and Harvey met in London, which is the usual backdrop for his adventures.
Matt and Harvey chat about Harvey's motivations as a content creator and some pivotal videos which propelled him into the spotlight (nod to "Whizzy Boi."). They also chat about the huge potential of his content, his love of The Bike Shed and of course, his beloved Triumph Bonneville T120.
It was a real pleasure for Matt to sit down with Harvey and see firsthand the passion that fuels his adventures, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.

Journalism, Podcasting & The Janno Media Award: A Conversation with John Collins

Journalism, Podcasting & The Janno Media Award: A Conversation with John Collins

It was great to sit down with John Collins, Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University’s (NTU) Centre for Broadcasting & Journalism (CBJ), at the end of last year.
As well as Founder, Matt and Marketing Manager, Nicola getting the chance to tour their old stomping ground, we got to record a brilliant chat with John on all thing’s journalism and podcasting.
John shared his insights into the ever-changing landscape of journalism and the growing significance of podcasting and audio content. We discussed the importance of vocational routes in journalism and the Janno Media Award for aspiring podcasters.
We also touch on the impact of the award at NTU and how this year’s recipient Anjy Olosunde is using it as a springboard to great things.
What we did agree on is that whatever the medium… the story is always king!
