    Taize Worship August 2020

    Opening Hymn:
    Bless the Lord My Soul
    Bless the Lord my soul,
    And bless God’s Holy name.
    Bless the Lord my soul,
Who leads me in to life.
    Silent Meditation

Luke 22:24-27New International Version24 A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26 But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

    Closing Prayer

    Scripture Reading
     Paul, Silas[a] and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
    Grace and peace to you.
Thanksgiving for the Thessalonians’ Faith We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.  We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
For we know, brothers and sisters[b] loved by God, that he has chosen you,  because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.  You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.  And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.  The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it,  for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,  and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

    Taize Worship June 2020

    Introduction:
We gather now to quiet our minds and still our souls through song, prayer, and meditation.  I invite you to sit in a comfortable position and silence any distractions. You may wish to dim the lights and light a candle. After each hymn, prayer, and reading there will be a time of silence for meditation. May you rest in God and know God's presence within you.
    Opening Hymn:
    Come and fill Our Hearts
Come and fill our hearts with your peace.
You alone, O Lord, are holy.
Come and fill our hearts with your peace,
    Alleluia

    Scripture Reading
John 1:19-27 New International Version (NIV)
John the Baptist Denies Being the Messiah
Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.  He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.”
They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”
    He said, “I am not.”
    “Are you the Prophet?”
    He answered, “No.”
Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”[b]
Now the Pharisees who had been sent questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
“I baptize with[c] water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”

    Closing Hymn
    Give to us your peace

Give to us your peace, O Jesus Christ

    Verses sung by cantor:
I will hear what the Lord has to say,
A voice that speaks of peace,
Peace for God’s people and friends,
and those who turn to God in their hearts

    Christ is our peace,
    making us one.
    In his own person
    he destroyed hostility.
    He came and preached
    the good news of peace.

    Taize Worship | May 2020

    Welcome:
In this uncertain time, I invite you to join in song, prayer and meditation in hopes God will give you strength, peace and healing. After each hymn, prayer, and reading, there will be a silent meditation.

    Opening Hymn:
    Bless the Lord My Soul

    Bless the Lord my soul,
    And bless God’s Holy name.
    Bless the Lord my soul,
Who leads me in to life.

    Silent Meditation

    Scripture Reading
Matthew 6:24-34 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?  So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
