The fellowship allowed her to carry out fieldwork in the Yucatan Peninsula to collect music samples from individuals of Mayan descent and subsequently incorporate those samples into her own personal composition style. In 2018, Letslie was commissioned to compose the music for The Poetics, a student-produced stage play about the life and times of the Greek philosopher Aristotle. The original compositions for piano and guitar explored aesthetic and political issues that have persisted from Aristotle's day to our own.
