She was first thrust into the spotlight after being crowned Miss Universe Australia in 2020 (the third woman of color to represent Australia it’s 69-year history). She’s since appeared on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (where she came out as bisexual on live national TV) and delivered her own TED Talk.
Maria regularly provides thought-provoking social and political commentary on nation-wide media programs and columns around issues of race, gender and equality. She’s released her first book - Unbounded and was named Marie Claire’s Voice of Now in their 2023 Women of the Year!
