Balitang S&T - ICT experts naaalarma sa SIM Card Registration Bill
IT expert Carlos Nazareno of DEMOCRACY.NET.PH and Atty. Neri Colmenares explain the danger of the SIM Card Registration Bill, a draconian measure which, if passed into law, would require all phone as well as social media users to register. In a protest action organized by Computer Professionals Union and AGHAM - Advocates of Science and Technology for the People, speakers from youth groups, trade union, media, and progressive partylists elaborate on the negative impacts of the proposed law, which they claim would curtail privacy rights, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and right to information, and would hamper access by ordinary Filipinos to basic social services which requires phones and/or social media accounts.

Balitang S&T - Woman scientist speaks up against tyranny
Dr. Eiza Yu, a biochemist and molecular biologist from UP Diliman, shared her thoughts on how the current tyrannical environment affects the development of science and technology in the Philippines during the online forum last February 27 organized by the alliance Scientists and Technologists Say No to Tyranny (SnT)2. Dr. Yu proposed several steps in addressing this problem including improvements in science education and involvement of STEM professionals in policy-making and governance.
