#BHN Moana Tuwhare on Waitangi Tribunal | First home buyer grant cut | Govt mandating referenda
Former Waitangi Tribunal Lawyer, Moana Tuwhare, joins us live to talk about ACT's definitions of the Treaty Principles being a "novel interpretation" of Te Tiriti with the backing of no expert opinion, and that the proposed legislation could "pose a threat to social cohesion".
The Government will end first home buyers grants — shifting the money to fund about 1500 new social housing places to be provided by external organisations instead of Kāinga Ora.
Over 50 local mayors from across the country have penned a letter to the Government, criticising their bill that would require councils to hold referendums on Māori wards established without a local poll.

#BHN "Significant savings" for Kianga Ora | Chloe Swarbrick on Q&A | Hunger strike for Gaza
Chloe Swarbrick was on with Jack Tame this weekend and Jack didn't hold back when it came to questions around how the party is operating at the moment. As is usual Chloe had most every answer when it came to policy and science, but when it came to people and problems with personnel within the Greens she was a little more shaky. Housing Minister has called for 'significant savings' for Kainga Ora in a not so hidden messages of more cuts on the way to help pay for their tax cuts and to give money back to landlords.
Former Shortland Street actor Will Alexander has begun a hunger strike which he says he may "soon be dead" if the NZ Government doesn't adhere to his demands.

The proposed new “crackdown” on gangs and patches has the Government promising it’s a solution to a rising tide of crime. However, there was now concern that a lack of police staffing in some areas would make it difficult for frontline officers to enforce the new laws.

Stats NZ has revealed a net migration loss of 52,500 people that had left the country in the 12 months to the end of March, why? Sociologist Paul Spoonley was on Breakfast and told them that some of the most skilled workers leaving is a "huge loss to the country".
