Between 1986 and 1989 8 people were murdered along or near the Colonial Parkway in Virginia. These murders and disappearances had several similarities leaving many to question whether or not they were all committed by the same person. Now, decades later, a killer has been named in some of the murders.

Jerry Kane Jr. and his son Joseph were followers of the sovereign citizen movement and did not trust the government. Their anti-authority beliefs came to a head on May 20, 2010 when they were pulled over by 2 Arkansas State Police officers. The confrontation that ensued led to the deaths of all 4 men.

Ruby Franke was a popular yet controversial influencer known for her extreme parenting style. In August 2023, she and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested on numerous counts of child abuse after Franke’s son sought help from a neighbor after being bound and deprived of food. Franke’s crimes have caused many to take a closer look at family vloggers and the rights of children featured in vlogs.
