    Marzia is an Afghan entrepreneur. She is the founder of NAMAD, a home for Afghan artists seeking to revive artwork on felt. She is also the co-founder of Khedmat and has previously served as an expert at the Office of the President of Afghanistan.

    Emran Feroz is an independent journalist, author and the founder of Drone Memorial, a virtual memorial for civilian drone strike victims. His work has appeared with The New York Times, Al Jazeera, The Atlantic, The Hindu, Alternet and several other media outlets. He is also a regular contributor to German-language newspapers and magazines. Emran has published two books in German, one about US drone warfare and its civilian casualties and another, which is an interview book with Noam Chomsky.

She formerly worked as a Project Manager at Radio Azad but now works as the publisher of War and Peace Daily, a women-led newspaper and that works for women in Afghanistan. In addition, she is a contributing author at Global Voices. Khojasta was the recipient of the N-peace award for Afghanistan in 2018.

    Afghan: Beyond Conflict with Prof Nazif Shahrani

    Join us as we discuss the complexities of Afghan Identity in today's world with Prof. Nazif Shahrani in Episode 4 of "Afghan: Beyond Conflict"  

    M. Nazif Shahrani was born, raised and partly educated in Afghanistan. He is currently a Professor of Anthropology, Central Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University. 

    He has conducted extensive ethnographic field research in Afghanistan and studied Afghan refugee communities in Pakistan and Turkey. Since the ouster of Taliban from power, he has regularly visited Afghanistan, publishing widely. 

    His most recent books include Revolutions and Rebellions in Afghanistan: Anthropological Approaches (co-editor with Robert Canfield, Indiana University Press, 2018) and Modern Afghanistan: The impact of 40 years of war (editor, Indiana University Press, 2018).

    Massoud Hossaini is a Kabul native, former political activist and photojournalist who got his start shooting images of Afghan refugees living in Iran. After the September 11 attacks, he returned to Afghanistan to join Aina, a French cultural organisation and studied with photographer Manoocher Deghati.
