Fame (1980) with Sean Keller
Comedian/performing arts school person Sean Keller joins Andy and Steph for a wild convo about a wild movie, 1980's "Fame"! Andy, Steph, and Sean unpack their worst audition stories before getting into auditions for High School for the Performing Arts, and, ultimately, Coco's nightmare audition. Plus Leeroy's 20 knives, Monty's apartment next to a Kenny Rogers' Roasters, Bruno's dad spoiling the title song by just playing it from his cab, and of course, Ralph's journey into stand-up (yes Andy has opinions-- mostly PTSD but also opinions). It's the least musical-iest musical we've ever talked about on the show, and we covered "RRR!" Ring the bell, school's in!

They try to figure out what the hell Jack Nicholson's doing here, what pinball has to do with this story at all, and you KNOW these lil snowflakes try to figure out if Tommy is ableist!! West Side Story (1961) with Deanna Ortiz and Mike Degnan
Comedy people Deanna Ortiz and Mike Degnan join Andy and Steph to take a big one off the board: 1961's OG "West Side Story"! It's a stone cold classic... but is it?? We can't tell, so let's unpack it. Is the way Puerto Ricans are presented in this movie cool? or is it crazy? CRAZY? COOL? GO! We talk about how a man fired from the set goes on to win an Oscar for directing the movie. Deanna's obsession with "Romeo and Juliet" keeps us on task (kind of) for links to Willy Shakes. Mike tells us how the Jerky Boys helped get him into this film when he was but a boy. Steph talks tritones! And Andy's just like, "remember that Gap ad?"

Andy can't stop doing the James Mason voice, Beckett can't stop doing the Judy Garland voice, and Steph can't stop because she's contractually obligated to be here.
