Today, in our second podcast, we have covered another amazing story from Kolkata, which has made an impact internationally.

We are on deck with Parikshit Roychoudhary who is the co-founder of the Edugreen Initiative, which started off with a basic idea of setting up libraries for the underprivileged but now also involves designing courses to make community service and the volunteering experience more enthralling. 

Working closely with the UNMGCY (United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth) and helping the UN apply their gamified courses in countries like Nigeria, Kenya and Zambia. They have also tweaked their model to suit the pandemic-life and have helped set-up a covid clinic in Hyderabad, with a few MBBS students. 

They are changing the way people perceive how community service is carried out and are making is a more inclusive and fun activity. They believe society benefits most when service becomes a means for recreation, and not just an act born out of moral sensibilities - that will rarely be sustainable at a grander social level.

The Edugreen Initiative is youth from various cities across India who are trying to replicate the strategy and expanding the organization's reach.

Trying to bring back the lost joy to the "City of Joy", a group of teenagers in the city of Kolkata have been working towards the betterment of the society during the Pandemic.

The Calcutta Anti-Covid Belt is a group of more than 1000 individuals who have successfully solved every case that has come their way and have helped verify leads and arrange other Covid-19 essentials like beds, oxygen cylinders, blood/plasma, medicines and much more.

They have come up with a novel idea during such unprecedented times and this has brought a positive change in the lives of many.

On Deck in this episode we have with us three members who are part of this youth led initiative with an intention to provide them with a platform to share their story and inspire many more. This noble cause has gained a lot of traction and their organization has expanded to regions other than Kolkata.

Beyond having verified leads regarding availability of beds, oxygen cylinders and having passed on the information to those in need they also, through their reach on social media and other connections have successfully crowd-sourced funds to help families battle the pandemic financially.

They have also worked closely with other organizations like "Cholopaltai" and "Milaap" to help as many people as they can. Our guests today are a true testimony of how people can come together during such hard times and work together in harmony and make the society a more collaborative and helpful community.
