Listen in as an amateur converses with exceptional people, in an attempt to uncover methods for engaging his curiosity, and finding personal meaning in a world of endless options, in the ultimate endeavor of forging a healthy relationship with his own mortality.

The conversations are unstructured and may sound unrefined at times. That's ok. The objective is not to deliver answers but to consider ideas. The opinions expressed in the recordings may not be definitive, or even previously considered. But they are genuine. If an idea sparks your curiosity I invite you to engage with it. Enjoy :)

#02 Juan Casian: Do it for the process

In today's episode of Musings with Mortals I talk with my dear friend Juan Casian. Juan is a programmer, a teacher, a businessman, and a fine thinker. Juan is unique in that even while working on highly technical projects, he always seems to understand the true implications of the work on both himself and those impacted by it. The company he cofounded, Atrato has been growing rapidly and recently joined YCombinator. Based out of Guadalajara Mexico, Atrato is the Affirm for Latin America, letting consumers pay for purchases in monthly installments without a credit card. In our conversation, we go pretty abstract trying to find a balance between work and recreation. We touch upon questions such as goal setting, finding joy in the process, understanding the different needs our ego and self demand of us, and how to even consider these seemingly unimportant ideas, in contrast to the concerns of those less fortunate than we.

#01 Linus Lee: Finding your own success

#01 Linus Lee: Finding your own success

In this episode I chat with Linus Lee about finding ones own success, surrounding the self with the right people and ideas, and briefly about his current project with IdeaFlow.

Linus is a creative mind curious about the ways of the world not afraid to experiment with different mediums and ideas. One of the things I've found most impressive is how broad his accomplishments span. Besides his work for Repil, Cal Hacks, IdeaFlow, and others, he has built over 120 "side projects" from a dynamically typed functional programming language to a simple online game for guessing Taylor Swift songs built of course using his own web framework and CSS library. He also play multiple instruments, draws, and is a phenomenal writer. In my opinion Linus is a true artist. Linus can be found across the web as @thesephist.

    Please enjoy!
