Matt, the CEO, and founder of Tahoe Blue Vodka joins me to discuss his decade-long journey to turn his vision into a reality of bottling the beauty and spirit of Lake Tahoe into the smoothest vodka in the world. Along the way, we discuss shoes that my wife hates, Matt’s journey from Maryland to California while living in a van and having no real plan other than “making it work,” and some of his various invention ideas that never came to be, including the illuminated frisbee. As with most successful people, Matt talks about pushing aside his fears, the terrifying notion of living off of savings to build an idea, and how ten years later, Tahoe Blue Vodka is still his obsession.

By popular demand, my wife Christina joins me and reflects on her year of deployment in Afghanistan and how she views the events of the past few weeks. Was her service, and the sacrifices of others worth it? She also shares some stories of her time there including the moment a detainee she was interrogating got his hands on her. There are some fun moments, too, like when we demonstrate how our sofa attacked my hand and when she attempts to explain why our drinking glasses suddenly no longer fit in our cup holders.

Producer Brandon and I pick up where we left off on his most recent Prodcast and tease Brineapalooza 2021 from the jump. From there, we explore millennial anxiety, Brando’s evolving view on family, and what it’s like to manage people. Somehow the issue of what an amazing leader and generous boss I am is touched on, and we get Brandon to tell his “the angriest I’ve ever seen Rob,” story.
