Do you understand how recruiters work?

I am publishing this brief episode to explain how they work, the stake they have in your salary and a bit of insight into how you can help them and how they can help you, now and in the future. Just like any great relationship, it's important to contribute, and you can do this by sending them the names of your valued colleagues that are open to connecting.

    Enjoy this brief episode.

    Episode 6

    Thanks for listening!

Wondering what exactly makes me qualified to speak about talent? How exactly have I been involved in talent, recruiting, 'human capital management', and more specifically the development of that talent? How and why should you take action? It's all here!

    Welcome back!

E5. Got a Significant Other? Are you Unemployed? | Heather Ann Koehn

E5. Got a Significant Other? Are you Unemployed? | Heather Ann Koehn

Are you in a relationship or are you being supported by family?

... I'm specifically directing this question at those that are or ever have been in transition.

It's a rough situation, am I right? I mean, we all want a new role, but it's a special feat in 2020 to find a role earning more than $45K or 100% commission. Between the pandemic, the recession and the political turmoil it's a special time to be alive. It's particularly important to have active support of loved ones. This includes romantic interests, immediate family, extended family and friends.

Unemployment is hard on all of them too. They are either directly financially impacted or they live in great fear that it will happen to them and are living the strife, depression and occasional bouts of fear through you, am I right? I know I am. You know I am.

The best posture is cool, calm, collected ... even jovial, but of course not too jovial.

Everyone that is unemployed is told by others to enjoy this time, but enjoyment is elusive when stress is high. Even at the best of times, each of us buries the stress because of course, who wants to see that? No one.

The strategy: Keep on keeping on. Cool. Calm. Collected. Panic under Wraps.

I hope you enjoy this episode.

A special thanks to my family.

E4. The Mental Trauma of Unemployment | Heather Ann Koehn

E4. The Mental Trauma of Unemployment | Heather Ann Koehn

Downsizing is one with mental trauma.

Unemployment is particularly difficult for those going through it the first time. Being unemployed requires appropriate coping mechanisms and in the ideal scenario, the person in transition successfully embraces it and thrives during the perceived chaos. Unemployment can be a great gift when people leverage the time, and urgency to recognize how to level up their skills in an applied way, but also to volunteer in their community to build more expansive networks.

Community. Entrepreneurship. Business. This trifecta is everything, particularly when one is in transition.

E3. Working for the Cocaine Addict | Heather Ann Koehn

E3. Working for the Cocaine Addict | Heather Ann Koehn

Ever feel like flourishing in life just shouldn't be so difficult?

Yes, me too. In 2019 I found myself working for a 'reputable' person well known in the community. What I did not know, is that this person had an unsavory addiction - cocaine. Crazy life experiences find me and I them. This is the story of that experience and how it matters to you, should you too decide to step forward and begin to freelance ... or know someone that currently does.

    Enjoy.
