It finally happened. The Bank of Canada has cut interest rates for the first time in four years. Many borrowers are relieved and hoping for more cuts in the future.

Plus: It’s been 80 years since allied soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy. For most attending today’s commemoration in France they have no living memory of the war. But for a dwindling number of veterans facing a world still engulfed in conflict, paying tribute to their fallen comrades is as important today as it has ever been.

Online streaming services operating in Canada will have to contribute five per cent of their Canadian revenues to support domestic media. That’s about $200 million each year. Some of the money will go to local and Indigenous media.
