Five Practical Fitness Tips (EP. 228)

The Men of Iron BODcast is back for Week 4 with Justin and Roman. This week we close out the Fitness Series by providing you some practical fitness tips to help get you started. Our anchor verse this month has been 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "You are not your own; for you were bought at price. So honor God with your body." God wants YOU to honor Him with the way you treat your body. Taking your fitness seriously honors God. If you have neglected your fitness for some time it's not going to be easy. There is not a quick fix to hard work. Find something that you enjoy and start pursuing that. Be intentional with a plan and share that plan with a friend. You are 76% more likely to achieve your goal if you write down AND share it with a friend to hold you accountable. Here are 5 practical fitness tips to put into action today!

    5 Practical Fitness Tips:

    #1 – Start small
#2 – Start with something you enjoy (hiking, basketball, biking, etc.)
#3 – Schedule it out, put it on your calendar
#4 – Invite a friend into your fitness journey
#5 – Write your plan out on paper and share it with a friend

Fitness matters because of the Gospel, you were bought at a price, so honor God with your body. If you have struggled with your fitness for years it can feel overwhelming or intimidating to know where to start. When Fitness Becomes An Idol (EP. 227)

When Fitness Becomes An Idol (EP. 227)

The Men of Iron BODcast is back for Week 3 with Justin and Roman! This week we are talking about the dangers of fitness becoming an idol. "Whatever you do, do it ALL for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31. If you don't view your fitness and body through a God-centered lens, it can quickly become an idol. This happens when you start putting your identity in your looks, or what you can accomplish through fitness, instead of God. What are some red flags to tell if you are making fitness an idol?

#1 - Spending too much time at the gym that it takes away from God or your family
#2 - If it doesn't bring you a healthy excitement and joy

When we talk about fitness becoming an idol there are two sides. There are men who spend too much time working out and men who don't spend any time or enough time working out. The overall mortality rate is 41 percent higher for men than women, and it’s higher for men for 8 out of 10 leading causes of death—including heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes (Indiana State University Report). There are probably more men listening on the "I don't prioritize my fitness" side of the coin. Men, God believes that you are worth it, you can do it. God wants to use your physical body for the relationships around you – for your wife, kids, neighbors, friends. It starts with building healthy habit. As we read in 1 Corinthians 6:19, "You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."

Fitness matters because of the Gospel, you were bought at a price, so honor God with your body. Do Christians Need To Be Fit? (EP. 226)

Do Christians Need To Be Fit? (EP. 226)

The Men of Iron BODcast is back for Week 2 with Justin and Roman! Last week we talked about the theology of fitness and why it’s important. This week we dive into what it looks like to pursue your fitness goals and physical health for the glory of God. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV). Take a moment and think about why you work out? Is it to glorify God or for personal gain? God wants you to use your physical abilities to glorify Him, serve others and live out your purpose. Like we learned last week, your body is a temple and your fitness is ultimately about honoring the Holy Spirit who lives inside of you. Running a marathon, going to the gym regularly, getting in shape, eating healthy. These are all great things that we SHOULD pursue, but God has to be at the center. Do it ALL for the glory of God.

Glorifying God Through Fitness (EP. 225)

Glorifying God Through Fitness (EP. 225)

The Men of Iron BODcast is back with Justin and Roman! In the month of June we will be talking all about fitness and why it matters. How do we glorify God with our fitness? What does the Bible say about health and wellness? Fitness is more than just going to the gym, we need to think of fitness through a wholistic lens. Sleep, stress, mental health, nutrition, mobility, weights, cardio, etc. It's a topic that the Church often ignores. Men, in order to live out the purpose God has for you, your physical and mental health matter! What are some reasons men haven't prioritized fitness? Life is too busy, don't know where to start, it costs money or maybe it causes pain.

As we read in 1 Corinthians 6:19, "You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."

How Mentorship Changed My Life (EP. 224)

How Mentorship Changed My Life (EP. 224)

Ryan and Tony are back for Week 4 of The Friend Series as we wrap up the month talking about mentorship. One-to-one mentorship is at the heart of what we do at Men of Iron. We believe every man should be involved in a mentorship. Tony shares his journey of how having a mentor has greatly impacted his life. Men, we all have purpose and finding that purpose is easier when you have another man walking alongside you. Mentors hold you accountable, challenge you, and encourage you to be the best man you can be. We all need accountability in our lives, we can't do it on our own. Getting involved in a mentorship will have a generational impact. If you don't know how to find a mentor, think of a friend in your life who is a season or two ahead of you. Ask that friend to mentor you and see what happens. If you need some help finding a mentor or protege, we would love to help. Apply today at www.menofiron.org/strong27. Your life will benefit from having a mentor.

What Does the Bible Say About Friendship? (EP. 223)

What Does the Bible Say About Friendship? (EP. 223)

Support our mission to change a culture, one man at a time – https://menofiron.org/donate

Ryan and Tony are back for Week 3 of The Friend Series as we take a look at friendship in the Bible. From Lazarus and Jesus to David and Jonathan, the Bible provides several examples of really solid friendships. Friendship takes intentionality and effort and Jesus models true friendship for us in His life of ministry. His friends were the faithful men who carried on the mission of Jesus after his death. The story of David and Jonathan, another great example of friendship in the Bible. David meets Jonathan and they become friends, even though David and Saul are essentially political rivals. That’s what makes this friendship so shocking. Jonathan was more concerned with God’s plans than his own plans. David and Jonathan were great friends because they served a great God together. That was the most important part of their friendship. How can we apply this type of friendship and obedience to our own lives? You need a friendship like David and Jonathan in your life. When you serve God, everything else in your life will be better. Think about someone in your life who could benefit from being your friend. Text that guy today and start investing in them.
