Xinjiang 新疆 is not Xizang 西藏
Xinjiang 新疆 (where many locals identify as East Turkistan 東突厥斯坦) is not Xizang 西藏 (traditionally and locally Tibet 圖博).
Also, despite their Sino-centric connotations, both 新疆 and 西藏 have been used officially for centuries from Qing dynasty.
