Never Again to Martial Law from Marcos to Duterte Malaya Movement Northeast Podcast

    • Politics

This September marks the 48th anniversary of Marcos’ declaration of martial law. To remember the blood, sweat, tears, and resistance of the Filipino people under Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos, we reflect on what martial law under Marcos was, and the ways in which history rhymes and repeats today under the repression of president Rodrigo Duterte. Malaya Movement Northeast is releasing two new podcasts this September on the 14th and 21st for “Malaya Mondays,” reflecting on Marcos’ martial law era.  For today’s episode, we will explore the history of martial law under Marcos, and draw parallels and connections to today under Duterte.
