053 - CapRadio’s Sarah Mizes-Tan on Asian American Identity Proudly Asian

    • Society & Culture

Kicking off the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with CapRadio journalist Sarah Mizes-Tan who recently launched a brand new podcast Mid-Pacific, a podcast that explores what it means to be Asian American and the feeling of being caught between two worlds. We talk to Sarah and CapRadio Director of On-Demand Sally Schilling who is also the executive producer of Mid-Pacific about how they convinced the newsroom leadership to produce an AAPI-focused podcast.

As the first race and equity reporter of CapRadio, Sarah also talks to us about her Asian American experience growing up in a predominantly white neighbourhood and working in newsrooms where BIPOC journalists are a minority.
