160 - Miami Connection Go With The Heat

    • Society & Culture

This is a once-in-a-lifetime movie. Seriously. This is as good as a  karate movie gets. How do we know? Its got all the tropes. Full songs  that are oddly specific to the scene? Check. Sensei beating the shit out  of their own students? Check. Always doing the right thing no matter  what? Just listen to the lyrics…

We absolutely adore this movie and always, ALWAYS have a ton of fun  when watching and now we finally get to profess our love of Miami  Connection, Dragon Sound, and Jim’s Dad. This is our final movie of this  season and we IMPLORE you to listen to our breakdown, then run out and  buy a copy of Miami Connection for your own library so you can watch  again and again.

Movie info
Premiered: Aug. 26, 1988 (Dec. 11, 2012)
Directed by: Richard Park and Y.K. Kim
Written by: Richard Park and Y.K. Kim
Produced by: Y.K. Kim

This movie was Y.K. Kim’s vision and brainchild, with Richard Park (a  Korean film director) facilitating the entire thing.

So many people want to say this is a terrible movie and they use it  to just rip it apart and capitalize on the “bad movie” trend. These  people don’t care about these movies the way we do. They only want to  tear down and use other people’s misfortunes to build themselves up.  This goes against everything this movie stands for. Friendship. Honesty.  Loyalty. These are the things that matter in life and Kim knew that. I  will never tear this movie down, it is fantastic and tells an amazing  story about friendship and family. This is the only movie in this season  that has an actual heart, and not dollar signs in their eyes.
