D-1 College Athlete, Life Lessons and EQ with Special Guest Dan DeLucia Spirit of EQ

    • Business

We had the opportunity to speak with Dan DeLucia, Pitching Coach for The Ohio State University Buckeyes Baseball team.
How do 18 or 19-year old young men, just out of high school, handle the pressures of playing sports and college life?
How does EQ come into play when coaches help them adjust?
Coach DeLucia gives us his insight on how difficult this time can be, and how he and fellow coaches go beyond the game, and make it about the person first, then the ball player.
Dan is currently in his seventh year as an assistant for the Buckeyes, and has been a part of the Buckeye coaching staff that guided the team to three NCAA Regional appearances in the last four years as well as two Big Ten Tournament titles.
He helped guide the youngest pitching staff in the nation to a postseason title run as the OSU arms shattered the school record for strikeouts in a season (583).
He has helped develop nine Ohio State pitchers into Major League Baseball.Dan concluded his Buckeye playing career in 2008 after earning four letters, was a first team All-Big Ten selection in 2006 and was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the Major League Baseball draft.
Outside of baseball, Dan loves spending time with his wife, Carly, and four kids, James, Gracie, Luke & Hannah.
In each episode, Jeff and Eric will talk about what emotional intelligence, or understanding your emotions, can do for you in your daily and work life. For more information, contact Jeff at jeff@spiritofeq.com, or go to their website, Spirit of EQ.
