The old saying goes, “…those that can’t teach.” A tongue-in-cheek remark about those who have skills to do certain things resort to teaching if that are not able to succeed at their craft. This marginalization of the skill of teaching is, in fact, unfounded.

When it comes to our faith and spirituality, we are dependent on teachers who lead both by instruction and example. For many of us, a parent, family member, youth leader, etc. was our first teacher when it came to the beginnings of our faith. But throughout the maturing of our faith, different teachers partnered with the Holy Spirit to make an impact on our lives.

The truth is, not matter how far along in our faith we are, we need teachers to guide us. But there is another truth—no matter how far along in our faith we are, someone needs us to be a teacher to guide them.
