61. Tutoring, Special Education The Parenting Reset Show

Tess Connolly LCSW talks with Aimee Buckley about the tutoring and the process they go through matching students with teachers and also special education and IEP’s and 504’s and what you can do with them. 
Aimee introduces herself and tells us a bit about the work that she does helping families access resources they need to get the extra academic support for their children. Aimee talks about how important it is to get the extra help our children may need especially now with children missing so much schooling through the pandemic.  Aimee talks about what her business does to help children with their studies and give them extra help to help them achieve in their schooling.  Aimee and Tess discuss how she matches the students with teachers and how important this match is to help them scaffold their learning to make sure they succeed.  Aimee and Tess talk to us about the 504's and what they are, also what documentation is important to make sure is written down for the future moving onto high school and college.  Aimee and Tess talk about IEP’s and what they are and when these may be given to a child.  Tess and Aimee talk about the transition through to college and how this works if your children have 504’s and IEP’s in school.  Aimee talks about the support that she gives around the struggles that are going on with the changes with learning online and working at school during the pandemic when they are going between the two whilst having to isolate.  Aimee and Tess talk about what to do if your child is excelling at school but not quite reaching their potential.  Aimee talks about the importance of being a little bit naughty and how this is really important developmentally.  Aimee is really grateful for all the wonderful people in her life, that she is surrounded by a wonderful community.
