69. What Is A Narcissistic Family? (Part One‪)‬ HOW MY PARENTS RAISED ME

    • Mental Health

How to escape a narcissistic family.Teresa grew up in a family she describes as narcissistic.  Growing up was hard.  This family was all about appearances and Teresa was struggling big time. Struggling with what was expected of her.  Struggling with manipulation, gaslighting.  And struggling with being undiagnosed neurodivergent in a neurotypical world. Teresa's parents had started down the path of getting her a diagnosis for autism but pulled out. Teresa believes her family felt the diagnosis wouldn't fit with the image they wanted to portray to the world.  Teresa's parents felt she just needed to get involved with 'normal' things and she would be fine.  In all those years Teresa was never able to be her true self.  It was suffocating and damaging and Teresa came to a point in her life where she realised she needed to cut ties with her family for her own mental wellbeing.  If you would like to connect with Teresa you can find her at https://www.instagram.com/trock91/If you have a story to share for this podcast or want to connect with me, dm me on www.instagram.com/mybigloveproject or send an email to bigloveproject@iinet.net.au.  I would LOVE! to connect with you.>>Please join my free group https://www.facebook.com/groups/438110904159978/?ref=share.
