70. Breaking the Stigma's of Addiction - Garret Biss A Handful of Hope

    • Mental Health

We cover:
* Responsible benevolence
* Ending the idea that you must suffer in silence
* How you can begin to support a loved one who is struggling
And much more
Garret is a retired Marine Corps Pilot. Transitioning from a career of military service was a traumatic chapter in his life – one defined by near-constant anxiety, regular panic attacks, and a battle with substance use. Through surviving the experience, he began a journey of personal discovery and a search for purpose and meaning in life. This journey led him to earn a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) from The Flourishing Center™, and a certification as a human-potential trainer from the Canfield Training Group. Garret combined this training and insight gained from personal experience to create the Thriving in YOUR Recovery™ program with a mission to serve others who are facing a similar struggle.
Through his professional experience, education, and personal journey, he has cultivated a wealth of valuable insight and resources for overcoming adversity, developing resilience against addiction, and finding ways to use a troubled past and the challenges of today to build a better tomorrow.
Garret currently lives in New Bern, North Carolina. When he's not traveling around the world speaking or serving his favorite non-profit, One Million Goal (OneMillionGoal.org), he can be found loitering in a coffee shop, snapping pictures of a sunset, or strolling the town with his “mini-me” (his daughter KK).
