00:00 New Direction (for the show - not the boy band) 02:37 Initro to Stephanie Zvan 85:25 Intro for "Ghosts of Tomorrow" by Feathers Wise This episode I sit down via Skype with radio host, author, speaker, organizer, and activist Stephanie Zvan. Stephanie has been a major impact on my life through her friendship, her writing, and her ability to bring people together in an effort to improve the world. I'm grateful to have the chance to chat with her one on one, across a variety of topics from Minnesota Atheists to the conferences she has organized and some behind the scenes radio stuff. I hope you enjoy this conversation.

Paige Converse is the host of the Cup of Words podcast, a podcast that features their spoken word pieces and her interviews where people share their favorite poem with her, and the two talk about it. I’m excited to say I was their first guest for this podcast, and I shared my favorite poem, Storm by Tim Minchin…so if you want to hear me recite Storm in its entirety and then hear the two of us discuss it check out their podcast, link is in the show notes. Upon reflection, I do have one regret following this conversation with Paige…both her and I share a deep love of punning…and yet I don’t think either one of does a single pun in this entire conversation, and that is definitely something I regret. With that regret in mind, we move to this conversation, which I hope you find interesting, entertaining, and leaving you wanting to know what’s beyond the written word that you find on this Paige.

Maddy is Interviewed
My guest this episode is Shanna Felix, and she will actually be interviewing me. Shanna is a 3rd year phD student with Georgia State University working on a dissertation relating to criminal justice where her field of study is criminology, queer criminology, and the experience perceptions of people who identify as queer have with the criminal justice system. One of the driving forces for Shanna was the realization that academia has largely ignored this area of knowledge, and its difficult to find answers when you don’t even know what questions need to be asked. Shanna identifies as a queer lesbian herself, and is a former Jehovah’s Witness. If you want to hear more from Shanna, she was recently a guest over on Queersplaining a podcast by the amazing Callie Wright. The episode is titled Queer Criminology, and was release on March 21st 2019, just one week after Shanna and I chatted…yes that’s right I’ve had this conversations sitting in my computer for like 6 weeks…I’m sorry Shanna!

04:30 Christianity is Oppressed 46:26 Gender Confetti Introduction & Music So you may have noticed the interview was a little off sounding on my end...that's because although I was talking directly into my wonderful ATR2100 mic, I neglected to plug that mic in...so the entire conversation on my end was recorded using my lap top mic. I won't be making THAT mistake again.

Bonus Episode Marissa Alexa Lennox-Mccool
The following show were compiled by Rich & Deanna Joy Lyons from the Living After Faith Podcast....but I absolutely endorse them!
-Maddy
We’re here to bring you an extra special crossover episode in support of Marissa Alexa Lennox-Mccool. She is a podcaster, author, performer, speaker, and an LGBT rights and atheist activist. She co-founded the Trans Podcaster Visibility Network, she is the host of the podcasts The Inciting Incident and The Cis Are Getting Out of Hand, and she produces a few other shows and helps out numerous other podcasters in many ways, including being a rad guest.
She is the author of 6 books with a 7th coming soon, as well as several screenplays. She’s now about to go in and get a Science Vagina, and we wanted to show her some love from her community to perk up her spirits, and share her go fund me and her work to perk up her bank account. You can find links to her writing and more information on her website, Rismccool.com
Okay, so before we go on, here’s a plug for Rissy’s gofundme: Operation Science Vagina Recovery She’s gonna need as much help as we can provide to get through these lean times. We donated and it would be super helpful if you can donate too, or share the link.
In this episode, you’re going to hear a lot of gushing of love, support, and admiration for Marissa. This is being released simultaneously on several other podcast feeds. We wanted to get this out as widely as possible so we’ve partnered with other shows to get these audio messages together and out to the world. And it’s a surprise!

00:20 Christianity is Oppressed 07:31 Initro to Slurm Flirty Worm 47:53 "Dr. Oolongs Couples Therapy" by Slurm Flirty Worm This episode features an interview with a really fun punk band from the Pacific Northwest, Slurm Flirty Worm. Slurm's drummer and back up vocalist (Abbi) is trans, and a listener local to Slurm helped connect Abbi and I. The whole band, Abbi, Michael, & Zakk are awesome, and I had a lot of fun chatting with them about how they got their name, what kind of music they play, and of course which hot pockets are the best hot pockets.

I've learned so much
Maddy is a terrific host and interviewer. Her guests are interesting and her monologues are great. Heartfelt and informative.
just a great show
Looking for smart insightful commentary, with varied subjects, and occasionally dr.who, this is the show. The hostess is amazing, smart, and keeps all subject interesting, and engaging. I love this show!
The worst part...
...of this podcast is that it only comes out once every few months.
