168 - Robert Trusko
Robert Trusko is a well recognized musician, composer, engineer, and producer in Dallas, TX. Through his musicianship, Robert has performed across the world with notable artists including Aloe Blacc, Robert Randolph, Eric McFadden (Parliament Funkadelic), Greg Spero, Robert “Sput” Searight, RC Williams, Cleon Edwards (Erykah Badu), Jaguar Wright (The Roots, Jay-Z), Doug Wimbish (Living Colour, Sugar Hill Records, Lauryn Hill), Black Ice (Def Poetry Jam), and Danny Gotlieb (Pat Metheny). As an educator, Robert Trusko also served for several years as an Interim Professor of Ableton Live at the University of North Texas.
Trusko also performs and MD's for the band 2LOT, which has collaborated with Steve Jordan (John Mayer, Rolling Stones), John McBride, Aloe Blacc, Ry-X, Moonhooch, and Greg Spero.
In 2023 Trusko released his EP “First Light” which is available on all streaming platforms.

#167 - Philip Meyer
Philip Meyer is a software developer, artist, and educator based in Los Angeles. He makes devices for generating rhythms and melodies for Ableton Live, most recently a collection of several generative MIDI Tools for Ableton Live 12. He is also the creator of the Rhythm and Time Toolkit, and package for Max MSP for modular sequencing.
Philip’s goal is to create playful, intuitive, and powerful sequencing devices that help artists to discover new musical forms. Driving Philip’s design approach is the goal to blur the line between composition and performance, in which an artist creates a thoughtful, deliberate composition but works fluidly and intuitively.
Philip is an active member of the Max MSP and Ableton Live communities. He is a Max Certified Trainer and makes video lessons for YouTube on programming and music production techniques in Max and Ableton.

Barclay Crenshaw, widely recognized under his stage name Claude VonStroke, is a seminal figure in electronic music, best known as the founder of the influential Dirtybird label. Under Claude VonStroke, he spearheaded a movement that redefined tech-house with a playful and quirky edge, leading Dirtybird to become a beloved brand with a global following. His innovative approach not only won him several awards but also solidified his status with iconic tracks and memorable performances at major festivals worldwide. In a bold career move, Barclay sold Dirtybird to Empire Records, stepping back from his Claude VonStroke persona to delve deeper into his roots with the 'Open Channel' project, marking his transition into avant-garde bass and electronica. This project was celebrated with a new album and a headline tour, showcasing his evolution and continued relevance in the ever-changing music landscape.
In 2024, Barclay also launched Imperial Dust, a software and sample company, with its first product, the Nasty Channel plug-in, aimed at empowering producers with unique sound design tools. Cristiaan Broderick, the sonic architect known as RYNS, is a producer and DJ currently based in Denver, Colorado. Crafting electronic landscapes that defy convention, his project has earned support from notable artists like Liquid Stranger, CloZee, Mersiv, Wreckno, Maddy O'Neal, and others.
The RYNS project formed in 2018. His style is self-described as melodic freeform bass, but is not confined to any particular genre. RYNS seamlessly navigates the realms of genres including but not limited to dubstep, garage, house, and trap.

He is the co-founder and owner of Slam Academy, an Ableton Certified Training Center based in Minneapolis. James is the owner of several forward thinking record labels, and was the curator of the international Spark Festival of Electronic Music.

Ben Casey currently works at Ableton as part of the Communities Team supporting music makers across the U.S. and Canada. He's also a music producer, educator, and Ableton Certified Trainer based in New York. With over 20 years of experience in the world of electronic music and a power user of Ableton Live since Version 1, Ben has been called “the swiss army knife” of Ableton.
While attending Goldsmiths College, he co-founded the label Werkdiscs and spent several years organizing music production events across New York and London. Ben has coached numerous artists across genres, helping them refine their skills and craft dynamic live performances.

This show is what we need more of! As a beginning female music producer trying to make it, I appreciate how these conversations are real convos about how people have come up, what inspires them, what their failures are, and some favorite plugins and strategies they have. The podcast rules. It’s got some nerdy bits for Ableton users, but 96% of it is good for any musician. Great chats with music-makers who are making it happen. Dan is a great interviewer.
