Aldo Januário, commonly known as “Caveirinha” is a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt under Carlos Gracie Junior, who is widely recognized as one of the top grappling coaches in the world. A pioneering figure for the sport in the city of Belo Horizonte – Brazil, Caveirinha developed some of the top competitors in the grappling world. People such as Rafael dos Anjos, Philipe Della Monica, Rodrigo de Freitas, Gustavo Saraiva, Igor Araújo, Paulo “Borrachinha” Costa and many others.
We have known each other since the 1990’s when we used to train together on the mats in Brazil. It was an honor to get to know him better, proud to call him my friend and amazing to see the positive impact he’s had on so many around the world. He lives and teaches at his Academy , Caverinha Jiu-Jitsu Family in Honolulu, Hawaii.
