The organization sprang from the fight to stop the I-49 inner city connector through the historical black community that birth some the greats of Shreveport. The two people that will take on this journey through history and fight is a man who is known for documenting some of Louisiana most important news, John Perkins. The Producer is a man born from the street of Allendale and Shreveport, Roosevelt Bryant. Highway Resistance in the Old South

A black and brown neighborhood facing the threat of an Interstate Highway built through their homes by an uncaring council of local governments and old fashioned racist business leaders. Getting to know the homeowners and residents of Allendale has restored my faith in people and I’m inspired by their struggle.

Follow along as they battle big government and racist practices from the past.
