The Creative Cha-Cha (w/ guest Danny Fingeroth) (Season 4, Episode 5)

Do you know a cha-cha from a waltz?

Certainly, the Marvel editorial offices of the early ’80s did! Without any consistent artist on the various Spider-Man titles and a constantly changing stable of editors and writers, the Spider-Man books and Marvel Comics were experiencing a creative revolution in the early ’80s.

This moment would launch the careers of Jim Shooter, Frank Miller, Roger Stern, and John Romita Jr. (to name a few), as well as our guest Spider-Editor Danny Fingeroth who will help us recount what it was like to be at Marvel at the time!

    Race in Spider-Man

    Race in Spider-Man

In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, America’s history of the destruction and minimization of black lives has again been laid bare. Now, protests and movements are reshaping the United States of America and how we address race. Today, Dan and Mark will be speaking to Brian Jacob (The Ultimate Spin) and Donovan Morgan Grant (Questions: We Don’t Have Answers) about the topic of race and how it has been handled in the pages and movies depicting Spider-Man.

We will be donating a portion of our Patreon earnings to the Black Lives Matter movement. If you are interested, you can do the same here:

    Denny O’Neil: Spidey’s Lost Years (Season 4, Episode 2)

    Denny O’Neil: Spidey’s Lost Years (Season 4, Episode 2)

    THE FIRST, WORST SPIDER-MAN COMICS?

With the hasty exit of Marv Wolfman as the writer of Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel had to scramble to find a replacement. So, they turned to another legendary writer in the Spider-Office: Denny O’Neil. Famous for his historic runs on Green Lantern/Green Arrow and Batman, Denny’s run of Amazing Spider-Man books are probably the most overlooked, under-printed, and forgotten issues in Spidey’s 60-year publishing history. On this week’s show, Dan and Mark will explore why it is that Denny O’Neil’s run represents Spidey’s true “Lost Years”!

Simply Amazing Podcast Nuff Said

I absolutly love Spider-Man and and currently trying to collect every single issue of Amazing Spider-Man but i have to said the annuals do not count apart from 1 and 21. This podcast has been such a blast to listen to, giving us great reviews of storylines, issue reviews, and interviews with Spider-Man creators. My only complaint is that i'm going to run out of back issue poscasts too soon listening to Dan and Mark on Amazing Spider-Talk 8hrs a day during my work week. I wish i could give this poscast more then 5 stars because it is so good it deseerves way more then five. Keep up the good work Dan and Mark I look forward to each new podcast as it comes out!!
