The American mustang is a living legend; an American icon and true native American. The wild horses of America illicit a strong emotional response from people, and for many they symbolize freedom. Diane Delano fell in love with American mustangs over 40 years ago. For decades she has operated a non-profit, the wild horse rescue center. She finds homes for her beloved horses, provides training and respite, and for some, lifetime sanctuary. A fun interview with Cindy Herriott Wells who happens to be Host Heidi’s sister. Cindy provides some amusing stories from her dog grooming business. She also talks about training dogs for performances, noting that the basic training and routines can be mastered in a matter of months. At that point, she notes, it is time for the animals to get comfortable with the music, an audience and all the other distractions. Guest Emilie Clark reached out after listening to a prior Animal Tales episode to relay her story about how her dog was stolen by a rescue. She also dives into the research she has undertaken regarding dogs at auctions bought by rescues and shelters for resale. As a California resident, she saw firsthand how the situation worsened when California banned the sale of dogs in pet stores under the ‘Adopt Don’t Shop’ banner. She went from being a supporter of the animal rights groups to becoming an animal welfare advocate. Tune it to here the story of her journey.
