Melody Cheng, Helen Wu-Wang, and Janet Wang are the co-creators of AsianBossGirl, a multimedia company for the modern day Asian-American woman. AsianBossGirl was founded to share their experiences as 9-to-5 professional working women, balancing careers, social lives, cultural identities, and personal development while living in the city of Los Angeles.
What started as a passion project podcast has turned into a multi-media business that they now run full-time. On their platforms, you’ll find conversations about the nuanced experience of being an Asian American woman navigating the corporate world as a person of color, mental and emotional health as children of immigrants, interviews with inspiring Asian women (and men), and even blind dates recorded on the mic. Growing Up with a Sister Is Like Having a Built-In Best Friend & Worst Enemy

Growing Up with a Sister Is Like Having a Built-In Best Friend & Worst Enemy

For better or for worse, having a sister is a lifelong friendship that you didn’t choose for yourself. Janet and Helen know just how tumultuous, but also reassuring, growing up with sisters can be. Janet and her younger sister Patty have very different personalities and interests, while Helen and her older sister Anne fought A LOT as kids. But ultimately, we know that the other sister always has our back through the heartbreaks and joys of life.

We’re also curious – does having a sister affect how you view or interact with female friendships? Grab your sister (or chosen sisters) and let us know what you think in the comments!

Learning each other's preferences and creating a home together can be extremely rewarding… but also a big test for you and your partner. Even if you have experience living with roommates, sharing a space with a S.O. can be a big adjustment. Since Mel just recently moved in with her boyfriend, we thought it’d be a perfect time to share how we all decided to move in with partners, as well as the inevitable disagreements and pet peeves that come with cohabitation.

Moodforfood ,

Great content and rapport

They’ve each really come into their own since the early days, and by that I mean they’re all so much more comfortable with not only just talking on the pod amongst themselves, but also in their interviews. They’re no longer rigid and no longer sound like they’re reading a book report, so the flow’s gotten way better. Loving the interesting subjects and of course their very apparent closeness with each other.

I will say, though…the ads every 7 minutes (I’m guess-timating but I’m on minute 21 of an episode right now, and the third ad just popped up. I’d prefer if you could stack three ads in one sitting (like some other pods do) because now it’s feeling like I’m watching TV where it’s just an ad every couple of minutes. It interrupts the listening experience too frequently.

Oinkitsthao ,

Been a listener for awhile, but...

You guys have been spamming listeners with way too many ads lately. For a one hour talk show, I swear there’s at least 4-5. I get y’all need to make money too but come on, I didn’t come for the ad and it takes me right out of the conversation.

Engaging engaging engaging

I’ve been following and listening to every single episode of ABG since 2019, and the ladies really showed us what building community is about. I love every single episode that they put out, whether it be bringing guests on the show to educate us or being vulnerable and sharing their personal journeys and stories. Keep up the good work!
