Exploring Faith and Expectations - Luke 19:28-48

    March 24, 2024

    Clint Letterman

Dive into a thought-provoking discussion on readiness, expectations, and the state of faith in today's generation, inspired by the contemplative journey from Palm Sunday to the expectations of the Messiah. This sermon takes a deep look into how our anticipation of life's events, including our spiritual walk and societal trends, often collides with reality, leaving us to ponder if we're truly prepared for what God has in store for us.

We explore the significant moments leading up to Palm Sunday and their parallels with contemporary challenges facing our generation. Through the lens of Scripture, particularly Luke 19:28-48, we're invited to reflect on our expectations of Jesus as the Messiah and how these align with His true mission and kingdom.

    Key Themes:

Unfulfilled Expectations: How our desires for political saviors and worldly solutions contrast with the spiritual kingdom Jesus came to inaugurate.

The Good News Overlooked: The challenge of recognizing and embracing the true message of peace and salvation Jesus offers amidst our preconceived notions and distractions.

True Worship in a Distracted Age: Confronting the consumerism and distractions that hinder genuine worship and a deeper relationship with God.

Readiness for Christ's Return: Encouragement to live in anticipation of Jesus' promised return, actively sharing the Gospel and living out our faith.

This sermon calls us to examine our hearts and lives, challenging us to align our expectations with God's reality, engage in true worship amidst a distracting world, and prepare earnestly for the return of our King. Whether we find ourselves entangled in worldly desires or simply seeking deeper faithfulness, this message is a timely reminder of the eternal kingdom we are called to be part of and the transformative power of living in anticipation of Christ's return.

Join us in this reflective journey as we seek to understand our role in a generation that stands at the crossroads of expectation and divine fulfillment, and discover how we can be truly ready for the ultimate fulfillment of God's promises.

Through the stories of King Saul and David from 1 Samuel 18, we're shown the destructive path of fear and the redemptive power of faith and obedience to God. Saul's descent into jealousy and fear-driven decisions starkly contrasts with David's humble reliance on God's will, offering profound lessons on leadership, faith, and the consequences of our choices.

    Bible Verses Covered:

1 Samuel 18: Saul and David's unfolding story illustrates the impact of fear and faith on our identity and destiny.
Luke 22: The agony and surrender of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, highlighting the ultimate example of facing fear with faith.
    Key Takeaways:

How fear can derail our identity and distance us from God's plan.
The generational impact of our responses to fear and adversity.
The importance of choosing faith over fear, illustrated through biblical and personal narratives.

Lot and the Judgment of Sodom & Gomorrah - Genesis 19
    March 3rd, 2024
    Clint Letterman

Get an in-depth look at the shocking and tragic story of Sodom and Gomorrah's destruction from Genesis 19. In this eye-opening sermon, Pastor Clint dives into the depravity and wickedness that led God to rain down fire and brimstone.

While an uncomfortable read, this biblical account holds vital lessons about the seriousness of sin, the mercy of God, and the need to flee from compromise. You'll gain insights into Abraham's intercession, Lot's failures, and the sobering reality that all have fallen short of God's glory.

As the body of Christ, we're called to live as ambassadors for Christ - holy and set apart. Let this study strengthen your resolve to pursue righteousness and be a light in the darkness. A powerful reminder that while God's judgment is real, His forgiveness in Christ extends even to the uttermost.

Lesson Three: Have a Strategy - Various Scriptures
    February 18th, 2024
    Clint Letterman

Discover the third vital lesson from the Apostle Paul's missionary life: have a strategy. Just as Paul strategically brought the gospel into new regions, we need to be intentional in spreading the good news today.

We'll be encouraged to pray for specific opportunities to share our faith and to go where lost people are to build relationships. Paul's consistency in marketplaces and synagogues sets an example to follow. We'll also see the importance of sticking around to establish new believers, combating false teachings.

This lesson reminds us that while some will reject the message, we must persevere in patience and love. Planting seeds through genuine care and interest can yield fruit over time. Be inspired to develop a plan to live on mission in your community this year!

We'll also see kids encouraged to bring their prayers to God and place them in a box representing God's faithfulness to hear and answer. Their childlike faith is a model for us all!
