Aurat March sazai maut k khilaf kyu hai?

In this episode, two volunteers unpack some of the myths about the death penalty: does it really stop crime? Do feminists support violent criminals by opposing it? What other forms of accountability exist? We explore these and many more questions in the episode.

Reimagining justice: "Culture of care" and feminism

Aurat March Lahore's 2022 Manifesto firmly positions care as central to justice. In this episode, we talk to Meera Ghani, an environmental activist with years of experience in exploring and understanding "culture of care". We unpack care as a value and explore its personal, communal and structural layers. We explore ways it can be practiced, and tackle the contested place of accountability within such a system.

Feminist Vision of Healthcare: 2021 Manifesto

Feminist Vision of Healthcare: 2021 Manifesto

A conversation between two Aurat March volunteers who worked on the manifesto, an activist who works on khawajasira rights and a disability rights activist.

Aurat March's 2021 Manifesto was on women's health, presenting a Pakistani feminist vision of what healthcare should look like. The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the stark inequalities in our society. Globally, we found the heart of society to be diseased. Diseased with injustice and inequality, with patriarchy and violence on gendered bodies.

In light of the cruelties wrecked on gendered bodies over the past year, we chose the theme. In the episode we discuss physical, reproductive, mental and environmental/community health. We discuss the gender bias in medical research.

Feminist resistance in South Asian history

Feminist resistance in South Asian history

Aurat March is rooted in a rich history of South Asian feminist resistance.

There are some deep misunderstandings about Aurat March. One of them is that it promotes a Western brand of feminism: it views feminism as a "new" phenomenon in Pakistan.

We strongly reject this narrative. Aurat March builds on the wholehearted efforts of our feminist foremothers. South Asian and Pakistani history is full of women resisting and creating space for themselves in the private and public sphere. We discuss the indispensable role of resilient women in our history.
