Break Outs in Beer League are Luck Events
On Episode 110 for Beers in The Lot, the guys discussed the intra-BITL crew tilt this week pitting Rigs' OFBG Caps against Aaron's, Danny's, and Jonny's OFBG Kings. They also touched on some of the current NHL preseason activities as players return to their teams to prepare for the season. The guys finished up with a discussion on the merits of dump and chase hockey and the struggles implementing simple tactics in beer league hockey.
Everyone Should Just Get Over Ads on Jerseys
Episode 109 of Beers in The Lot started out with jersey talk. More specifically, how the new jerseys in the Old Fat Bald Guys Hockey League, brought a different feel on night one of the Fall season. That led to a discussion on the new ads on NHL jerseys and the potential for more uniform sponsorship. Rigs and Jonny recapped the fun they had hanging out at Frederick's In The Streets and a music lyrics game Jonny came up with during that day.
What If, Why Not? Featuring Phil Eichinger
On Episode 108, the Beers in The Lot crew is joined by Phil Eichinger, a New Jersey based actor and writer with a short professional hockey career. Phil took the boys through his hockey journey, highlighting his club college career and a short stint in the old, gong show International Ice Hockey League (IIHL). He also described his path to acting on stage and screen, including roles on Gotham and Law and Order SVU. Phil is writing and producing a few projects including a spin off based on his Gotham role; and a documentary that asks a question all older hockey players have asked themselves at least once-what if, why not?
If You Had to Fight an NHLer, Past or Present, Who Would You Pick?
On Episode 107 of Beers in The Lot, the guys discussed two questions that came up since the last episode-You have to pick any NHL player past or present to fight-who is it? You have to fight and know you are going to lose-do you want to get one-punched or fed? They talked about the Zamboni or "ice resurfacer" breaking down as one of the worst things that can happen at the rink. The crew also shared their excitement for the new Old Fat Bald Guys Hockey League jerseys based on old school NHL designs.
From the NHL to the C League in CBus
On Episode 106, the Beers in The Lot crew were given a hot tip about retired NHLer Dave Steckel's Wikipedia page featuring his recent play in a Columbus area beer league. Jonny gave his thoughts on the World Juniors tournament. The guys also discussed how to find the best eats while on hockey road trips. More specifically, how to find the best wings.
Let's Go Shake Their Hands
On Episode 105 of Beers in The Lot, the guys talked about how it's World Junior hockey time but also not World Junior hockey time. They also discussed a question that popped up in Discord from one of their most loyal listeners-"if you could’ve had one piece of info or advice when you started your hockey journey, what would it be?"
Great listen on our long drives to the rink.
Love listening on our long drives to/from the rink. The variety of angles to ultimately discuss hockey are great. The colorful language is just a bonus.
An interesting voyage into hockey with these gentlemen and their takes. From Beer League to Pros.
