    Silent Hill

    Silent Hill

Just a few years after Resident Evil hit theaters, Silent Hill got an adaptation of its own. Although it stayed closer to the tone of its source material, critics were not impressed. This week however we are diving into everything this movie does right! Creepy atmosphere, crazy monsters, whole body degloving, there's a lot to discuss...Join the Best of the Rest discord: https://discord.gg/86P7jJXNPb Merch: https://www.teepublic.com/user/botrcast Email: bestoftherestpod@gmail.com Social Media ...

    Resident Evil

    Resident Evil

One of Capcom's biggest franchises got its own big screen adaptation in 2002 with Resident Evil, directed by the same man that brought us Mortal Kombat in 1995: Paul W. S. Anderson. Critics were not kind, as is the case with most video game movies, but the movie found its audience and spawned numerous sequels. One of us loves the RE games, the other has never picked one up. Will this affect our enjoyment of Milla Jovovich? Unlikely. Join the Best of the Rest discord: https://discord...

    Rampage

    Rampage

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has had a very successful, if not uneven run in Hollywood. Rampage seemed to please casual movie goers well enough, even if it did not win over critics. We are kicking off Video Game Month II with one of the more bizarre adaptations made so far. Does the monster mayhem satisfy? Is Jeffrey Dean Morgan criminally underrated? Is the world ready for another Shane Black movie? We investigate all of these questions and more.Join the Best of the Rest discord: https://discor...

    Stir of Echoes

    Stir of Echoes

Not only does this movie feature a young boy that can talk to dead people, but it released within months of The Sixth Sense. After a disappointing run at the box office and a slew of unfavorable comparisons, Stir of Echoes has quietly slipped into obscurity. Today we take a second look at the Pepsi of 1999 ghost movies to find what it actually does well! Kevin Bacon is shirtless, the ghosts are spooky, and Kevin Dunn shows up for the second time this month.Join the Best of the Rest discord: h...

    The Illusionist

    The Illusionist

The Illusionist was a moderately successful and well reviewed film about a magician. The only problem was it released in the same year as The Prestige, a movie with not one but TWO magicians, and a much higher budget. This week we take a second look at the overlooked magic movie starring Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti, and Jessica Biel to find all the things this movie got right!Join the Best of the Rest discord: https://discord.gg/86P7jJXNPb Merch: https://www.teepublic.com/user/botrcast Email...

An Internet Oasis

Even though it seems easier to tear a “bad” movie down, Best Of The Rest showcases the best intentions of the film makers.

The hosts have a great banter, and the show has my favorite new thing in podcasting, “The Mark Strong Award”(which showcases the best acting in the film). Some movies have obvious MVPs, but The Mark Strong can go to anyone in the cast bringing their A game.

Give this show a listen. The positivity might just feel good for a change.

Love the pod

I love this podcast I just wish they didn’t the last airbender. When i first heard of this podcast the first movie that came to mind was the last airbender movie and they won’t do it for some reason.

Great show!

I’ve listened to every episode that I’ve seen the movie for and have been watching movies just so I can listen to the best of the rest crew.

I was worried initially that there wouldn’t be much depth of conversation without the ability to criticize the movies, but those fears were unfounded!

Always a great convo and always leaves me feeling better than when I started.
