    143. Utilizing Your Gifts with Christa Deana

Christa Deana is an award-winning singer/songwriter, worship leader, speaker, educator, YouTuber, and CEO of ChristaCourt Music Group. With a goal to make music that impacts the world, her music is being played in 52 countries, including charting in the top 5 gospel music charts in Nigeria. Christa is not only known for her talent, but also for her authenticity and bubbly, kind-hearted personality. She sings with passion from the heart and writes her own music. With each song, the listener is invited to step into a vulnerable and honest space where healing meets music. She has made the cover of MusicLovers Magazine, performed at Philadelphia’s 2019 Juneteenth Festival, and has been featured on major Spotify editorial playlists, including Fresh Gospel.

Drawing from her own experiences as a musician and educator, she writes music in response to a need for more art that calls humanity to move beyond passive existence and into her mantra of, “H.O.P.E”, which she defines as, “health, optimism, power, and experience.” In pursuit of this endeavor, Christa Deana also shares this message of purpose through her podcast entitled “In the World, Not of It”, as well as her YouTube channel, where she challenges others to live by their faith and not by sight. She took home the Kindred Awards for Regional Christian Music award for Best R&B Artist in 2017 and Artist of the Year in 2019.

She is currently receiving her Masters in Music Business from the Berklee College of Music. Christa Deana truly shines for Christ as she lives out her message each and every day, on and off stage. It is her desire that each word and musical note will serve as a healing modality for the listener that calls them to pursue their optimum health physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

    142. Pursuing Passion with Sharla Walker

Sharla Walker is a pediatric nurse practitioner who after witnessing the struggles of young women in her practice decided to be the change she wanted to see. Her passion led her to found Hearts Over Habits, Inc. a nonprofit organization aimed to provide life skills and mentorship to young women in vulnerable populations such as foster care, the juvenile justice system, young women in poverty, and those living in minority communities.

In 2020, Hearts Over Habits, Inc. received the National Mentoring Resource Center Technical Assistance Grant which provides assistance to provide evidence-based mentoring programs. Along with a committed leadership team Hearts Over Habits, Inc. is committed to the success of the young women they serve.

Her story is one of faith, love, and growth. She and her husband packed up and moved across the country after a word from God in 2016. Little did she know that God was positioning her to move in a way she never imagined.
