Enjoyable show

Good show. I wish there were more podcasts that spend the whole show talking about a game. However, I did did myself yelling at my phone when they had some rule errors in Terraforming Mars. They mentioned you did not have to subtract energy production to play the card if you don’t have it. This is incorrect.

Effects that remove your own resources are mandatory, while effects that remove resources from any player (marked by a red border around the resource icon) are voluntary and may be performed in full, in part or not at all. Only one player or card may be targeted at a time with the effects of a card. Removing production is always mandatory.

Low effort, low value, and uninformative reviews

The information quality and content provided by these board game reviewers is poor, and how the brothers deliver the podcast makes it hard to follow along and contribute to its extreme incoherence. I was hoping for a refreshing podcast but alas not this one.

The podcast opens up by explaining the core rules of the game, followed by a discussion on strategy. During the exposition, the brothers frequently misspeak rules, contradict each other, and often leave me more confused about the game.

In the strategy discussion, the brothers clearly have spent 0 research effort, and instead simply cite how to play a game by experience or intuition. There are numerous resources online that provide proven strategies for many games (BGG, Reddit, etc.). The brothers should research these rather go off their own small sample size of playthroughs.

I’ve given them a listen a few times but I simply have to stop an episode because they get so many things wrong with whatever game they are reviewing. I strongly recommend listening to other board game podcasts.
