#11: Victoria Secrist on finding a passion in licensed therapy, suicide prevention, and more
National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. To discuss this important subject, I'm happy to welcome former Air Force broadcast journalist and current relationship therapist, Victoria Secrist. She describes her own military career and its challenges, along with how she discovered a path to her passion. Victoria is well-educated on marriage and family therapy as well as suicide prevention, and is an excellent source to learn from with regard to how we approach conversations about suicide.

#10: Chris Alan on pursuing a stand-up comedy career as an active duty (now retired) Airman
Mike welcomes Chris Alan to The Boots Off Podcast as the show makes its return from hiatus. Chris is a standup comedian with more than 13 years of stage time, opening for marquee headliners like Amy Schumer, Mark Normand, Colin Quinn, Hannibal Buress, Roy Wood Jr, and Kyle Kinane, plus many more. The kicker is, Chris was living this dream while he was active duty Air Force! In this episode, Chris discusses that balancing act and the challenges that came with it.

Oh yeah! Music provided by my buddy Chase Landon. He's an Army veteran and he solo-produced the song you hear in the intro/outro back in 2004 when we were just high school kids with no direction (not the band). I love that song and he's great.

Transitioning
There is life after the military, and this Podcast provides applicable perspective from our brothers and sisters before us, in addition to entertaining us with stories we all so often miss from the military. It’s war stories meets success stories. Keep up the great work, Mike.
Great information
These podcast provide great insight for anyone who is at that point in their military career and we have all been at that point of should I re-enlist or should I get out. I retired in 1986 and remember having this discussion with myself. Look forward to your second season of Boots Off podcast
Great Resource!
I love hearing from other vets who have served our great country and found success on the outside. Super helpful and I hope everyone gets the chance to hear these stories.
