New Draft Top 150 and the list's highest risers

After releasing MLB Pipeline's updated and expanded Top 150 Draft Prospects list last week, Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff break it all down on the latest Pipeline Podcast. They begin by talking about the players at the very top of the list, including new No. 1 Charlie Condon of Georgia, Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana and Florida first baseman/left-hander Jac Caglianone. After an interview with Arkansas left-hander Hagen Smith, the Draft's top pitching prospect, they identify the biggest risers and highest-ranked newcomers on the list and explain why they have helium. Then they wrap things up with a listener mailbag question about what the Guardians are thinking with the No. 1 overall pick.

    It's Opening Week(s)!

    It's Opening Week(s)!

Sure, the MLB season officially got underway in Seoul last week, but things really get going this week and next in MLB Pipeline world, and Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff are here to tell you all about it. They kick things off by discussing some big prospects making Opening Day big league rosters, like Jackson Chourio and Wyatt Langford. There's a ton of talent starting in Triple-A, with that season beginning on Friday, and the trio look at the sheer volume of guys at the Minors' highest level, led by Jackson Holliday. Then the crew turns their sites to the Draft, welcoming in potential No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana from Oregon State (and Australia) to the pod before doing a top 10 draft chock full of college bats. They finish off, as always, with a question from the mailbag.

I love the podcast! You all do a very good job. But please someone tell Callis that it’s not “ops” its “O-P-S”. No one in the game pronounces it as “ops”.

please fix audio quality. it’s close to ruining a great podcast.

Pitchers specifically Peyton Battenfield

This young man was being developed by the Tampa organization and suddenly the Guardians gave up two AAA pitchers for him and brought him up to pitch five games without any support from the offense and they all came up as losses even though his numbers weren’t that bad.

He actually struck out Aaron Judge and several other Yankees.

I know this young man personally he is truly all American personality.

You’ll find nothing about him that is flawed.

He has a wife had a baby.

He was up-and-coming, and all the sudden he gets injured with the Guardians and they release him and trade them off to the Mets, which in my opinion the worst development organization there ever was.

They have no idea what to do with the players and they ended up spending millions last year on pitchers and then dumping them off and now take this young man and just dumped him.

I am so upset about this, if he would’ve stayed with the Tampa Bay organization he would have developed into one of their better pitchers.

He’s from a small Oklahoma town called Verdigris.

He and his brother both were All State pitchers that got scholarships to Oklahoma State University, and they both were drafted and got respectable bonuses.

I say shame on the Mets and the Guardians-and the way they treated him.
