Build a wind-down routine that works

When you can’t seem to calm yourself down at the end of the day, sleep feels impossible. But what if you had steps to take that led you gently to a state where your body and mind were ready for rest?
Between the anxious thoughts and constant pings on our phone, bedtime for us isn’t the magical time we’ve created for our kids. And when you can’t relax at night, you only feel more exhausted the next day.
Your wind-down routine doesn’t have to be done in complete solitude (or even all at once). You can lighten the approach and create a more relaxing evening while still getting the essential things done.
In this episode, you’ll learn 8 ideas for a wind-down routine that enhances and improves your sleep night after night.
    Show highlights include:
How to cue a calmer evening with the signature of a permission slip. (4:47) How to create a Home Sunset for longer (and earlier) sleep. (8:28) Why cutting out the background noise clears your head immediately. (9:44) The Fuzzy Sock approach to feeling more relaxed and worry-free. (12:07) Why having a nighttime routine of scent and temperature enhances your natural sleep. (13:04) Why trading in the late night true crime shows for a light read leads to more intentional rest. (14:36) Why keeping a night journal clears brain fog and releases any day tension. (16:49) The quick meditative scan for calming down the body (when sleep seems like an impossible task) (18:37)  ***DISCOUNT CODES, RESOURCES, & SOCIAL LINKS***

What if you only tracked your wins?

What if you only tracked your wins?

Whether it’s a broken New Year’s resolution or blunder at work, we’re all really good at keeping track of what goes wrong. It’s easier to ruminate about our bad days than build the momentum to have better ones.
But focusing on what went wrong brings you down. You forget that tomorrow is a new day (while today is already done).
There will always be setbacks and things out of your control. But if you want to build momentum and make positive progress, then focusing on your wins is key.
In this episode, you’ll learn a proven method to help you make progress toward your goals.
    Show highlights include:
How to become a powerhouse of productivity using the Harvard Progress Principle. (4:30) The 'Wins Tracker’ template for maintaining the momentum to reach your goals. (6:52) How to avoid ruminating over bad days with advice from the laundry room. (9:52) How to make progress on unproductive days using the Catalyst/Nourisher approach. (12:58) Why keeping your mind on forward momentum starts with breaking the ‘Setback’ addiction. (16:22)  ***DISCOUNT CODES, RESOURCES, & SOCIAL LINKS***

Breaking the "getting caught up" cycle

Breaking the "getting caught up" cycle

You may think that weekends and holidays are the time to get caught up. You finish the work week only to overstuff your time off with even more things to do. And you’re always trying to catch up.
But is being caught up really possible? Or is chasing that myth only leaving you drained and disappointed? Time off should be for true rest and rejuvenation (and not tackling another to-do list).
In this episode, you’ll hear my top four ways to keep work in its proper place (while enjoying time off to do what you’d like).
    Show highlights include:
Why leaving more tasks undone may be good for you.  (2:30) Debunking the myth of getting caught up and doing what feeds your soul instead. (5:27) How to keep your holidays sacred even when there is a backlog of work. (10:15) Why pride keeps you from prioritizing and progressing in life. (12:43) How to work through big projects and reclaim true rest (even when you don’t think you have the time). (13:50)  ***DISCOUNT CODES, RESOURCES, & SOCIAL LINKS***

What I learned in 2021 that I’m carrying into 2022

Over the last year, many of us have learned powerful lessons. And while sometimes the experiences that teach those lessons can drain us, there’s no better way to start off a new year than with a powerful mindset, rooted in hard-earned wisdom.
2022 is about embracing the lessons we’ve learned last year and walking with confidence into whatever this year has in store.

A fresh approach to the Enneagram with Leslie Hershberger

A fresh approach to the Enneagram with Leslie Hershberger

In last week’s episode, we took a whirlwind tour of the Enneagram and its nine types. You may have even found out where you fit into the Enneagram model (and what drives your behavior).
But the gateway to deeper connection is in communicating with all types of the Enneagram. And you can break them up into three centers of communication - head, heart, and body.
When you can listen and learn from anyone, patterns emerge. You understand how people thrive, connect, and work best. When you pay attention to what makes people feel most alive, deeper connection is possible.
In this episode, you’ll discover the Enneagram way of connecting with others on a deeper level.
    Show highlights include:
How to communicate and connect with your full self using the Narrative Enneagram.  (3:44) Why the Center's Approach enhances teamwork and produces your best work. (12:11) How to stop centering emotions around others and feel more connected with yourself. (19:45) How to feel more supported (and less overwhelmed by feelings). (23:30) Using Enneagram language to connect with others (while respecting boundaries). (31:48)  ***DISCOUNT CODES, RESOURCES, & SOCIAL LINKS***

    An introduction to the Enneagram

    An introduction to the Enneagram

The Enneagram is a model of the human psyche. It reveals what we do to feel loved and what motivates our behavior. The Enneagram uses numbers, instead of language, to explain attitude and behavior.
Even though there are nine distinct personality types, one dominates each of our lives. It is our unconscious orientation that drives our behavior.
While you may not resonate with every feature of your type, when you understand it, it reveals how to become the best version of yourself. You learn where you fit and become closer to who you are.
In this episode, you’ll get a quick glimpse at the nine complex personalities (and I’ll share how you can figure out which one matches yours).
    Show highlights include:
How to become the best version of yourself with an ancient personality test.  (3:26) How to tell if you have a ‘Type 1’ work ethic (with too much control and criticism). (8:03) The red flags that you’ve lost time for self care and turned into a 24/7 Helper. (10:51) Why you’ve never pumped the brakes and found praise in your accomplishments. (12:34) The Artist archetype for following your creative impulses and always leading by emotion. (15:03) Why curiosity and being hyper-observant has made you a Natural Investigator. (16:26) Why you’re afraid of making the wrong choice and always relying on others for support. (18:11) What your enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous spirit reveals about commitment and routine. (19:57) How to tell if you have Challengers confidence (and the morals to follow). (21:39) Why Peacemaking abilities can leave you feeling unappreciated and overlooked. (23:33) The book for digging deeper into your personality type and what motivates behavior. (25:49)

Such a wealth of knowledge! 🧠

This is one of the most insightful podcasts that I have ever come across! Cherylanne does such a great job of sharing her wisdom and I love how she leads meaningful conversations with guests who bring so much experience to the table. Highly recommend checking this show out - you won’t be disappointed!

Aha moment!

I just learned something so simple yet brilliant - have a tolerance knowing the to do list isn’t going away. There will always be things on the list. It’s ok. Prioritize and live your life knowing the most important things are getting done, not everything. I wish someone had told me this 20 years ago.
